eSIM Technology Guide

Technology

1. Technical Architecture

The eSIM ecosystem is built on GSMA SGP.22 standards. The core component is the eUICC (embedded Universal Integrated Circuit Card) — a secure hardware element that stores and manages multiple operator profiles. Remote SIM Provisioning (RSP) enables remote activation via QR code.

// PROVISIONING FLOW
1. Device scans QR → extracts SM-DP+ address
2. Mutual TLS authentication with SM-DP+ server
3. Encrypted profile download to eUICC
4. Profile enabled → network registration

2. Activation Protocol

iOS

  1. Settings → Cellular → Add eSIM
  2. Use QR Code → scan
  3. Confirm plan details
  4. Label and activate

Android

  1. Settings → Network → SIM Manager
  2. Add eSIM → scan QR
  3. Follow prompts
  4. Set as data SIM

4. Troubleshooting Matrix

No service: Verify eSIM active → airplane toggle → manual network → restart → provider support
Slow speeds: Check allowance → verify 4G → manual operator selection → location change
QR error: Check internet → clean lens → manual activation code → provider support
